Meet Domaine Jean Féry
Founded in 1922, the domaine farms organically, with vineyards across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, and the winemaking is led by François Lecaillon. The range runs from Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru down through Rully and Givry to the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune.
The style is precise rather than rich. These are whites built on freshness and minerality, from higher, cooler sites that the warm recent vintages have played straight into, and reds with more structure than the appellations might suggest.
Jasper Morris MW scores the 2022s between 91 and 94 (Jasper Morris, insideburgundy.com)
The Wines
Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet are the heart of white Burgundy: richer and more structured, wines for a serious dinner. These are elegant expressions, though, without the ‘weight’ that you might expect. Rully and Givry, a short drive to the south the Côte Chalonnaise, are where the value hides, the same hands at friendlier prices. The Hautes-Côtes sits above the classic villages, higher and cooler, a real advantage in these days when searing summer heat is becoming more common and allowing it to retain its characteristic freshness.
Where you’ll find them
On the list at Pied à Terre in Fitzrovia and The Devonshire in Soho, and at home with private clients across the UK.

Why I import them
Though this is the region I know best, It took me two years to find the right producer to work with. I was looking for a Domaine that was well-respected locally, but who might not yet have had the reputation internationally that they deserve. As always in Burgundy, personal introductions are the best: I was introduced to Laurent, Francois, Thibault and the team through Alex of Meuriot Cameron.
This is the wine I open when I want to introduce someone to the domaine: the Hautes-Côtes blanc, from limestone high above the Côte de Beaune, with far more freshness and energy than most people expect at this level.
How buying works
Every wine on this page can be bought two ways. Duty paid, delivered to your door anywhere in the UK, with duty and VAT already included in the price. Or, for wine you are keeping rather than drinking now, in bond at London City Bond. The wine stays under temperature-controlled professional storage, and the duty and VAT fall due only when it comes out.
Allocations and small parcels go to the private client list before they reach the website. If you’re not sure which one suits, book a chat or drop a message via WhatsApp.
